Woodenbong Progress Association Projects
Update to November 2015.

Woodenbong Souvenirs” WPA have recently purchased a fabulous new range Woodenbong Souvenirs to help promote Woodenbong area as a great destination. Include: Stainless Steel Thermal Drink Can, Clip To Belt Mug. BPA free Drink Bottles, Notebooks, Events Stubby holders, Aussie Riding Boot coolers and Neon Shot Glasses. Bar Runners. Magnets, Stickers, Pens, Spoons, Badges, Embroidered Patches, Tee Shirts.

Call in to Country Brushstrokes craft shop, MacPherson St, next to Post Office to see them. Limited range at Woodenbong Pharmacy. MacPherson St Woodenbong.

“New Kitchen Equipment Showground” Glass door counter fridge, chain doorway hanger, fly/insect zapper, moveable stainless steel bench. $1,260.00 Funded totally by Woodenbong Progress Asociation.

“Planning at Camping Grounds” more taps and electric points for more powered sites plus: Quote: $1,606.00 to replace old power points.

Solar Panels” Camping Grounds  $11,714.00 funded by WPA.

Lock Up Shed” Camping Ground $1,500 funded by WPA.

“Shared Purchase Espresso Coffee Machine” $964.15 with 3 other community groups. Forming the “Woodenbong Community Coffee Group”.

New Disability Ramp” Golf Club Funded/donated by auction at Endeavour Foundation Rally event organised by WPA.

DONATIONS 2015: $2,000.00 Showground Trust for upgrade of infrastructure. $283.00 & $513.50 Westpac Rescue Helicopter raffle proceeds. $100 Woodenbong Swimming Club. $100 souvenirs to Urbenville Hospital Aux. $100 WCSchool. $100 prizes Show Society. $300 Remy Leonard representing Australia overseas support raffle prize.

“Woodenbong Outdoor Gym” Installed January 2015 and ready for use.
(adjacent to swimming pool, in front of half basketball court, near camping grounds)
Please freely enjoy this new asset. This project was funded by Sport & Recreation $13,000 and Woodenbong Progress Association $11,000 cash plus voluntary support and Kyogle Council installation.
Seating with sun shelter by WPA is installed.

“Sheltered Seating/Table Settings in MacPherson Street” WPA placed 2 sun shelter seating/tables in the centre strip. These were fully funded & implemented by Woodenbong Progress Association with the kind assistance of volunteers.

“Woodenbong Skate Park”: Installed and open for use. Official Opening Fun Day with Sport 28th November 2015. Mud humps added for BMX thanks to Kyogle Council and Geordie Reid. Funds were raised from Woodenbong Progress Association $10,000 Kyogle Council $15,000, Sport & Recreation $25,000.

“Playground addition for Under 6 years of age” This has not been resolved as yet due to Kyogle Council requirements and restrictions. This is to be funded by WPA.
To date it is in the hands of council for available options.

“Woodenbong Showground Kitchen Upgrade”  Currently the work is being undertaken to upgrade the kitchen and is planned and supervised by WPA. Funded by Futures Funding.
Feb: Work has progressed and the builders work is complete. Further work planned WPA self funded.

2014 May: “Ride-on mower”  WPA fully Funded. A new mower has been bought by WPA to service the mowing to beautify Woodenbong. Should you be able to offer some time, please do, as a volunteer.

2014 May:Urbenville MPS Hospital”. $9,550.55 was donated by WPA for a free standing shelter/roofing for the outdoor area. Hopefully this will be the beginning of an inspired peaceful space for patients and their families. Completed in July2014.

2014 July:“Camping Ground” “New Shelter”. a replacement new shelter has been erected to replace the old failing shelter. The cement slab was also upgraded. Funded totally by Woodenbong Progress Association. Thanks to the kindness of Graeme and Cameron Reid.

“MacPherson Street Centre Gardens” WPA work bee brought it up to standard. Thanks to Gloria George who has been watering, planting and caring for the garden beds since and thanks to Tony Neylon from the Woodenbong Hotel who has purchased and donated over 300 bulbs to beautify the area. Please care for the area to beautify our village and assist if you feel inclined. Called a 2nd Work bee 13th July.
Result: 13th July Work bee successful and thanks to those that came to lend a hand. Thanks to Michael Smith for the mulch which was a fabulous offer. Thanks to Ash for all his help on the day. Frost hardy plants still needed if you have something to plant to suit, please do so.
2015: an ongoing problem with upkeep. Should you like to volunteer or to adopt a garden, please do.

Events and fundraisers organized by Woodenbong Progress Association, and liaisons with council, give us these opportunities for the betterment and benefit of Woodenbong. WPA meetings are held 1st Tuesday of the month at the Golf Club 7.30pm. Come along, give us your ideas, join in with projects, volunteer… All actions benefit our local area and lifestyle. All Welcome.
