Things To See & Do

Where To Go & What To Do during Your Stay In This Area

Tooloom Fall

A great place to visit is Tooloom Falls which has a picnic area and is a short drive from Woodenbong. Travel South and continue 3km through Urbenville and turn left at the sign and continue 3 km down the dirt access road (usually in good condition). Bush campsites beside Tooloom Fall. Toilets. This is a very significant place for the Githabul people.

There is a picnic-barbecue area on the banks of Tooloom Creek situated at the entry to the Woodenbong Camping Ground.

There is a picnic-barbecue area with free electric BBQ at the Woodenbong Public Hall.

Drive the Beaury Forest Loop

To access the Beaury Forest Loop Rd head north-west out of town along the road to Warwick and turn left after 6 km into the unsealed road which leads through dry and moist hardwood forest and grazing lands. After 13 km turn left on to the sealed road to Urbenville.

North Yabbra Forest Loop Road

There is another forestry road which leads to Urbenville from the eastern side of town. Head south-east (the road is unsealed after 2 km) through rainforest and moist and dry hardwood forest, past another of the area’s volcanic plugs, known as Edinborough Castle. About 17 km from Woodenbong turn right back on to the sealed road which leads to Urbenville. This road takes you through Yabbra Flora Reserve where there is a picnic area and walking track.

Mt Lindesay

About 10 km north-east of Woodenbong, along the Mt Lindesay Rd to Beaudesert, is Mt Lindesay. A remarkable mountain it belongs to the MacPherson Range which is part of the state border. This is a popular spot with those keen on an arduous mountain trek. The last section is definitely for abseilers only.

Queen Mary Falls the Scenic Rim

The main link from the North-East at Rathdowney Qld on the Mt Lindesay Highway is the access to Queen Mary Falls, and associated waterfalls at Killarney, Qld, 50km North-West of Woodenbong, known as part of the Scenic Rim.
The Scenic Rim is a group of mountain ranges of the Great Dividing Range in South East Queensland, The mountainous landscape forms a quarter circle ridge positioned roughly from south of Toowoomba around to Springbrook.
Tamborine Mountain, Lever’s Plateau in New South Wales and the Lamington Plateau are part of the rim formation. Much of the scenic rim is considered part of the Gold Coast hinterland and originates from the Tweed Volcano.

Woodenbong has a golf club, swimming pool, tennis, outdoor gym, skate park, half basketball court, scenic drives and many more leisure and recreational activities.
Experience a bit of real fair dinkum Australian country hospitality!
